PENNY PHELAN

Penny was a Juror’s Choice Award Winner in the 2019 ACTion Art Exhibition. Her painting Newspaper Tom was displayed in an ACTion Art Exhibit at the Grand Rapids Art Museum this summer. It will also be on exhibit at ArtPrize, and international art competition held in Grand Rapids in the fall of 2021.
Penny is particularly interested in themes, of patriotism and nostalgia, and showcasing in them her own voice. She incorporates fibers and textures along with historical memorabilia and imagery to create thoughtful narratives.
